Lorinda Bryan Cauley

Lorinda Bryan Cauley has worked as an artist for more than thirty years. An illustrator, painter and designer, Lorinda holds a degree from the Rhode Island School of Design. She has illustrated over fifty children's books through the years, many classic folktales and others which she has written herself. Lorinda is the author and illustrator of "Clap Your Hands" and "What Do You Know!", two popular interactive books for very young children that were inspired by her own four children when they were young.

After taking some time off to pursue designing a clothing line, Lorinda is now back to her first love of drawing and painting. Her children's book illustrations are known for imbuing her characters with life, personality and energy. She artfully blends realism and fantasy in her animal characters, along with rich colors and whimsical details.

Lorinda's love of nature and gardening has also inspired her to work on a series of botanical watercolors of many of her favorite flowers, vegetables and fruits, along with insects and birds native to the area. The mother of two grown sons, she lives with her husband and her two daughters in Greenwich, Connecticut.

Children's book editor Nora Cohen was the editor for many of my books at G.P. Putnam's Sons, and she now runs an independent children's book editing business called ChildrensBookEditing.com where she can be contacted to edit the work of children's book writers who would like their manuscripts to be edited and finessed so that they can then submit their work to agents or publishers.
